In the thoroughly researched What the Modern Martyr Should Know Seventy-two Grapes and Not a Single Virgin, The New Picture of Islam, author Norbert G. Pressburg reveals the facts and fictions surrounding Islam, even as he shows how far astray Islam has wandered from its original purpose.
Pressburg uses latest researches to show how the Qur’an was misinterpreted through history by those in power, and for their own nefarious needs. Over the centuries errors, mistakes and forgeries have changed the original content, the real message of this holy book has been subverted. Many people know that terrorists expect to be greeted by virgins in Paradise when they die, but Pressburg shows that a truer translation says nothing about virgins at all. He also points out that the supposed admonition for women to wear veils is not God’s word at all, but the private opinion of a later interpreter.
By getting as close as possible to the original texts and examining the languages and the times in which they were written, scientists have uncovered a new picture of this complex religion. What the Modern Martyr Should Know serves to provide readers with up-to-the-minute knowledge on historical Islam, findings which readers will be surprised to discover look nothing like the traditional image we have known.
Entertainingly written and thoughtful, and thoroughly researched, What the Modern Martyr Should Know reveals a complete new picture of the origins of Islam and of what is really know about the Prophet Muhamad. This bold, wise book can help anyone understand more about the past, the present and possibly the future of Islam.

This book was originally written in German under the title "Goodbye Mohamed" and published by Verlag in December 2009. The "Inarah Association", the leading group of Islamic scholars, has recommended the book, which is based on some of their work about the true origins of Islam. Pressburg lays out the facts based on extensive original source research buttressed by archeological findings and authenticated historical archives. The genesis of the manuscript is the result of the work done by historians, classical linguists, archeologists, numismatists and Islamic scholars whose efforts, since the 19th century, have begun to shed light on Islam trying to separate facts from fiction. The book suggests that Islam sprang from the Nestorian sect, a deviant of Christianity that rejected the divinity of Jesus, and was invented as a separate religion in the 9th century.Nowadays it is thought that, based on serious non-biased academic research, that the Holy Qura'an was compiled around the 9th century, during the reign of the Abbasids, from texts written in Aramaic/Syriac, of Nestorian Christian origins. According to members of the "Inarah" (Enlightenment in Arabic) such as Christopher Luxenberg and Karl-Heinz Ohlig, the Qura'an contains about 25% of errors of translation from the original Aramaic, Hebrew, Persian and Greek original sources into Qureishi Arabic. This contradicts the traditional belief that the Qura'an is verbatim the word of Allah as dictated by the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet over a period of 23 years. The author offers examples of the mistranslations such as "Qeryan" (Qura'an) a Syrian Christian book of liturgy, "Huris" (white grapes) became Virgins and "Hijab", a girdle, in its original ancient Persian dialect.
The author describes the writing on the Dome of the Rock mosque of Jerusalem and inscriptions on numerous coins of the 7th through 9th centuries Ummayad and Abbasid eras as Christian; and as proof that Islam and its Prophet were never mentioned, and did not exist, for over 200 years since its supposed origin.
Pressberg goes on to debunk the so-called Golden Age of Islam in the Abbasid kingdom and in El-Andalus. He describes the philosophers and scientists of that time, such as Averoes (Abu Rushd) and Avicenna (Ibn Sena) as non Muslims and goes on to explain that the "Muslim conquest" Spain never happened, because Islam did not yet exist; but instead that it was simply that "a Berber tribe took sides in a succession dispute involving the Gothic royal family. Thus Arian Christians from North Africa supported their fellow Arian believers in Spain.......and there was no "Tarek Ibn Ziyad, supposed leader of the Muslim armies."
At first blush the book might appear to be a "hit piece" against Islam, but if the serious reader is willing to shed his bias and preconceived ideas and, approaches the contents as didactic scientific data in the early stages of research, he shall be rewarded with intriguing concepts and historical discoveries.
When compared to the German edition, the English translation has a few insignificant errors that do not affect the overall meaning of the text. Because of the controversial nature of the book it was written under a pseudonym.
Interested individuals will find supplementary information on the "Inarah" website (mostly in German) and in the book "The Hidden Origins of Islam" edited by K H Ohlig and G.R Puin available on Amazon.

What the Modern Martyr Should Know 72 Grapes and not a single virgin edition by Norbert G Pressburg Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This is a very interesting book because it demonstrates that nothing was recorded in writing until two centuries after the death of the Prophet. It is also strange that one can be killed for not respecting certain 'sacred' texts that were drafted under vague historical situations by unknown persons. Nevertheless, in spite of these obscure origins, Islam has become a major, and in many ways profound, religion followed by more than a billion persons.
Fascinating review of the origins of Islam. It has always been clear Islam is an outgrowth of Christianity. This book reveals that it was originally a sect which revered Jesus like all other Christians but would not agree that he was a son of god. This was not a rare belief in early Christian thought. The doctrine of the Trinity was established as the only 'true' belief hundreds of years after the origin of Christianity. Due to linguistic confusion between Aramaic and Arabic the sect evolved into a separate religion. Some beliefs from the Arabic peninsula were incorporated later, probably reflecting military power shifts. (Last sentence is my interpretation, not necessarily the authors view.)
There is a strong thread of fear and hatred towards Islam in this book. Nevertheless it makes a fairly solid historical argument, which may be true even if the contempt is excessive.
A must read for all those who consider themselves true believers in Islam. Historians have tried to substantiate the information in the Quran along with the isnad (the chain of transmission of Hadiths) and found the concept of source research does not exist. In an old world of hearsay, the stories change. Reducing the stories to writing especially over a century or so creates for the writer a potential for problems such as misinterpretation, artistic flair of storyline, data misdating and downright lying. What is the average Muslim to do but to rely on the teaching of their local Imam who also was taught to perpetuate the inexplicable and control his believers with the use of "Shari'a Law".
